These are some of the frequently asked questions we receive at Active Physiotherapy Group.
Do I need a referral to see a Physiotherapist?
In most cases, you don't need a referral to see one of our physiotherapists. However, if you are covered by Worker's Compensation or Motor Vehicle insurance, or the Dept of Veteran's Affairs, then a current Doctor's referral is required prior to treatment.
Does private health insurance cover me for physiotherapy?
Ancillary cover through private health insurance typically covers physiotherapy treatment, although individual policies vary and we recommend that you check with your insurer regarding your specific case.
Is physiotherapy covered by Medicare?
In most cases, Physiotherapy is not covered by Medicare, however the ancillary cover through your private health insurance typically includes physiotherapy. In some situations, for complex and chronic conditions, if your GP has formulated an EPC care plan, you may be eligible for Medicare subsidy for up to five sessions per year.
